Despite the fact that Russia is in touch with European culture, and because of many reasons (history, habits…), westerners are likely to meet cultural differences when visiting Russia for the first time.

Compared to western standards, the Russians are warm and hospitable. They
usually entertain at home and a small present is expected from a host.

They are eager to learn about other countries and therefore like discussions about general political or social topics.
