Attraction for culture is stronger in Poland than that for
business. All the large Polish cities (Gdynia, Gdansk, Sopot,
Warsaw, Lodz, Poznan, Torun, Wroclaw, Cracow) offer a rich cultural
life. Cracow received in 2000 the award of "European city
of the culture".
Several thousands of churches, castles and museums are open
to the visitors throughout the country. Among the most attended
museums appear the Czartoryski cuseum of Cracow, the museum
of the Poster of Wilanow close to Warsaw, the national museum
of Gdansk, the large oceanic park and the boat-museums of Gdynia,
the Museum of the musical instruments in Poznan and the Geological
and Mineralogical museum of Wroclaw.
The theatre companies are numerous in the large cities and
very appreciated by the Poles. The concerts, operas and ballets
constitute a tradition in which the Poles excel. In the same
way, certain music festivals such as Wratislavia Cantans or
the Warsaw Musical Autumn are worldwide known, just as several
regional festivals, which make revive the various folklores
of the country, like the international Festival Folklore "Autumn
of Tatras" in Zakopane in August or the Festival of the
popular Orchestras of Kazimierz Dolny in summer.
