The meal, in family or with friends, is a very appreciated
moment of the Poles. Four meals are in general consumed each
day.
The breakfast is limited to most people bread, butter and jam
with a tea or a coffee. Others prefer to eat eggs and cheese,
even sausage, ham and a cake. At the end of the morning, it
is possible to have a light sandwich, which
is called the "second breakfast".
The obiadd, main meal of the day, is generally eaten in the
middle of the afternoon, or earlier if one did not eat a sandwich
before. The meal starts in theory with a soup, rather consistent.
Then is served the meat (pig, poultry, fish or red meats) accompanied
by vegetable or noodle or potatoes. Bread is also a significant
component of the meal. The desserts are often cooked containing
fruits which the Poles gather in their own fruit trees. A light
dinner is finally taken at around 7 PM.
The culinary practices have tended to change these last years
in Poland, especially in the urban areas with the appearance
of foreign cuisines, in particular Chinese. There is also an
increase in the consumption of fish and seafood and more notably
a strong progression of the rapid restoration.
