The main sectors of the Polish economy

The working population counted in mid-2003 is 15,3 million inhabitants. The Polish labour force is one of the youngest in Europe, but the country counts also the 9,3 million pensioners. The working population should stop rise after 2006. In rise since 1945, the female activity ratio is from now equivalent to that of the men.

Since 1990, the tertiary sector develops with the detriment of industry and especially of agriculture. The latter occupies only 20 % of the working population, against 30 % for industry and 50 % for the services. The sector of the microphone-companies is dynamic, 5,5 million people working in companies of less then ten employees. Approximately 80 % of the Polish GDP are generated by the private sector.

Parallel economy in Poland count at least 15 % of the GDP. The official speeches become more virulent against this plague, but the practical hardly evolved, including in the higher political realms. A million and half of individuals would work in black. The illegal activities are also developed, for example the counterfeit, the transit of drug and the traffic of amphetamines.
